How to take the best Instagram photos

Hello!

I've been really into Instagram ( namelessgap ), lately, I've been taking lots of pictures and trying ( and i say trying because it just isn't perfect) to have a theme. Although I'm no expert I've noticed a few things that always make my pictures look a little bit better.

Natural lighting: I can not stress enough how important this is. I always, always, always take my pictures in front of a huge window in my room where i know I'm gonna get a lot of natural light. I've noticed that the best time to take pictures is the morning as the sun is positioned very high in the sky. Taking pictures with artificial lighting such as lamps can make your photo look yellow and grainy.

Focus: When i take Instagram pictures with my phone I like to not only focus the camera on the most important object, but also i discovered something that honestly made a huge difference, when you've focused the photo press on the focus point and what this will do is lock it so even if you move your phone the picture will stay focused where you want it to.

Camera grid: This is something that i don't always use but when i do i find very useful. These are straight lines that help you make sure your photo is straight.

Background: I like very bright and clean images, that's why i like to take my photos on a white surface that will not only make sure i accomplish that but also will not distract people from the object that is being photographed.

Composition and props : When i'm taking pictures i like to play around with everything that i want to take the picture of, i like to move things around, change the layout untill i like how it looks. Another thing that makes my pictures look better are props, i always use the to decorate so even if i'm taking a picture of a product it wont look boring.

Take lots of pictures: My pictures never look good the first time i take them, i have to take tons of them just to get on i like. All these pictures are taking from different angles or different layout. Take as many pictures as you can until you are satisfied with the result.

Edit: This is the last thing i do to my pictures before posting them. I change the brightness, the exposure, etc... but i could do another post about it.

  2. That's great advice, Paula. I recommend you keep them simple, as well. There has to be only ONE thing to focus people attention in each photo. Eliminate every distraction to keep them looking where you want them to look to.

  9. Great tips! Natural lighting is so so so important, and I will never post the first picture I take (I like to take a few slightly different ones then pick the best). I really need to start posting more on Instagram actually...
